About the project

What is the project about?

Contextualised GCSE Maths for vocational areas

Part 1 – Creating bespoke resources for vocational areas.

Part 2 – Does contextualising GCSE maths lead to greater achievement?

  • The purpose of this is to create a bank of resources and lessons using adobe captivate that learners and staff can access to support their learning.
  • Files would be hosted online similar to BLC resources
  • Focus on aspects of their vocation that holistically link across to the AQA GCSE maths syllabus
  • Conduct an action research to see if learners who access these materials have a tangible improvement in Maths

To have a control group and a tested group randomly assigned within selected vocations to see if contextualising maths has tangible benefits as the exams are not contextualised.

What is the benefit to students?

  • All student studying maths within Inspire Education Group
  • Increased GCSE Maths success

How will the impact of the project be measured?

We have tracked starting points and have data trends from 2 years prior. We will use mock tests and summer examinations to compare success.

What will the outcome be?

  • The outcome will be a bank of student resources that can be assigned remotely or in person
  • Would also benefit curriculum planning and the embedding of English and Maths
